Keywords:

This study analyzes the challenges of interdisciplinary Environmental Education (EE) in basic education, based on teachers’ conceptions and practices in a state public school in Diadema, São Paulo, and is part of the author’s master’s dissertation. Adopting a qualitative approach, it is characterized as a case study, using semi-structured questionnaires, interviews, and documentary analysis of the School Political-Pedagogical Project (PPP). The data were examined through content analysis. The results indicate that, although teachers recognize the importance of environmental issues, naturalistic and conservationist conceptions predominate, centered on preservation and individual awareness. EE practices are sporadic, fragmented, and poorly integrated into the curriculum, being concentrated mainly in Science classes.
