SCIENTIFIC EDUCATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS IN EARLY CHILDHOOD
A THEORETICAL PERSPECTIVE ON EDUCATIONAL POLICIES AND PRACTICES
Keywords:
Early Childhood Education, Science Teaching, Environmental AwarenessAbstract
This article discusses the importance of science teaching and the development of environmental awareness in Early Childhood Education, analyzing official documents and contributions from scholars in the field. The study demonstrates that, although public policies value curiosity, observation, and care for the environment, significant challenges persist regarding school infrastructure, the shortage of pedagogical materials, and teacher training. The analysis highlights the need to understand science education as an investigative and humanizing experience capable of fostering critical thinking and environmentally responsible attitudes from early childhood. It is concluded that consolidating scientific practices in Early Childhood Education requires a collective commitment among teachers, administrators, and public policies to ensure real conditions for implementing a critical and transformative science education.
