This study analyzes the use of artificial intelligence–powered applications in language teaching from the perspective of critical theory of society. Using a dialectical and qualitative-documentary approach grounded in Adorno, Horkheimer, and Freire, it examines the pedagogical structures and discourses of language-learning applications, relating them to the contributions of Freire, Piaget, Vygotsky, and Ausubel. The results indicate a tendency toward the reification of didactics and the instrumentalization of reason, making learning more technical and distancing it from its human, critical, and emancipatory dimensions. Mechanisms of ideological control and the commodification of education are also identified, reducing language to a utilitarian function. The study concludes that critical theory contributes to recovering the dialogical and transformative character of education by valuing complex thinking, reflection, and dialogue as fundamental elements of human development.
